About Make A Mends
Sustainable fashion
Make A Mends is a visible mending and repair shop based in Redruth, Cornwall, created by Sara Clasper and Sarah Perry.
We believe clothes deserve more than a short life. Repairing, adapting and reworking what we already own is a practical act of care, creativity and resistance to throwaway culture.
We are passionate about extending the life of everyday garments through thoughtful repair and visible mending.
Our work focuses on:
- Creative patching
- Embroidery and embellishment
- Reviving worn favourites
- Teaching practical mending skills
Repair should not be hidden. A mend can be something to celebrate.

Our Manifesto
We aim to raise awareness of the terrible impact fast fashion has on the environment, human rights and local economies. We’re always looking for opportunities to engage with fellow traders, local people and organisations to promote handmade crafts, repairing and a sense of belonging. Our manifesto is displayed in our HQ to remind us and let everyone know our core values.
We Care, Repair & Share
- Sustainability rather than a throwing away culture. We will support people in caring, mending, repairing, altering and decorating their clothes. If it’s broken we can fix it.
- Multi-cycling. We’re in to any type of cycling, whether it’s recycling, upcycling, downcycling, any sort of cycling – we like it!
- Valuing rather than buying new. Promoting the buying of second-hand clothes, wearing vintage, renting, swapping, swishing and making donations.
- Creativity. Playing with textiles, crafting and being artful is something we all can have a go at. You don’t need to have any previous experience. It’s about sharing skills and ideas and having a bit of fun.
- Citizen before consumer. Raising awareness of the problems of the clothing industry and its negative impact on our environment.
- Craftivism – the art of gentle protest. We use craftivism (craft + activism) to empower people, of all ages and abilities. No one or act is too small to make a difference.
- Community orientated. A sense of belonging is important to all of us. We aim to establish communities of creative, respectful and maybe a little rebellious menders!
